Help us reach our goal of 1,000 members. The BCDS' financial strength is now based on revenue from events and possible future Provincial Sporting Organization (PSO) status, not membership fees. Going forward, all memberships will expire annually on December 31st, which aligns us with the PDGA membership policy. A membership of 1,000 or more leads us to become qualified as a Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) and open up new opportunities for funding and support for clubs, course development projects and events. With 1,000 members, BCDS is eligible for $15-25,000 in grant funding. There are incentives! *Note this is a one-time-offer
New: 1. Online sign ups are available via BCDS website for all competitors and clubs. 2. An up to date list of all people who have become individual members will be available for tournament organizers. 3. An individual’s club membership and their BCDS individual or competitive membership are not connected to each other. They have been linked in the past. The BCDS will offer two types of membership: 1. Individual Membership: Competitors at BCDS-organised, sponsored or insured tournaments must pay a $10 per season competition fee to the BCDS before they compete in that calendar year. These fees expire December 31st. This fee will be collected once a year by the BCDS, either by players signing up via the BCDS website, or at the time of your first event registration. Benefits include:
Where do these fees go? Currently estimated at $3000 a year, these fees cover the full cost of the annual BCDS insurance policy, replacement of some tournament equipment, and transportation costs. 2. Club Membership A Club can join as a BCDS Affiliate/Supporting Club for a $50 flat registration fee. Member list needs to be to BCDS by December 31. BCDS Affiliate/Supporting Club memberships include coverage for as many local players as you can list at a flat fee of $50. Please remit payment via PayPal to bcdstreasurer@gmail.com. Benefits:
Where do these fees go? Estimated income will be $2000 a year. Website hosting and management, storage fees, AGM costs, admin fees, and sundry supplies. BCDS membership drive - how it works: All Affiliate clubs collect a list of club members throughout year. In September, clubs provide a list of current members before the AGM. All BC club members will be included in the membership of the BCDS for the purposes of the AGM. BCDS does not set club membership fees but encourages it to be low. If a tournament is sponsored or insured by BCDS everyone in the event needs to have paid their Competition Fee or Individual Membership ($10). By paying competition fee you automatically get a membership, and you don’t need to be affiliated with a club. Please feel free to contact us with any questions: bcdiscsports@gmail.com |
